Manual is beer

A leather and steel bottle opener designed to patina beautifully

The Manual Bar Blade is a leather and steel bottle opener designed to patina with repeated use. Inspired by the flat metal bottle openers found in the back pockets of bartenders all over the world—we wanted to create our take on the iconic bottle popper.

The Manual Bar Blade is created by wrapping a selection of Horween leather around a laser cut stainless steel opener. By bringing the warmth of leather to the utilitarian steel we created a designed object that feels great in the hand, adds an handsome accent to your bar, and—through frequent use—develops a patina, like a well-used leather wallet.

The Bar Blade is made in the USA. In fact it's 100% made in Chicago—from the laser cut steel to the genuine Horween Leather. Horween is one of the oldest continuously running tanneries in the United States, and has been tanning their premium leathers in Bucktown for over 5 generations. From NFL footballs to presidential oxfords, Horween leather can be found in quality goods around the world.

In addition to being completely Chicago made, we're also excited that the Bar Blade combines both ends of the manufacturing spectrum—computer-controlled cutting and artisanal hand craft.

Whether you're popping open the latest dry-hopped IPA, a wild farmhouse ale, a barrel aged stout—or even a bottle of Topo Chico—the Bar Blade will be your loyal partner that gets better with age, just like your taste in beverages.

The Bar Blade is currently sold out with no plans for future production.
